Humble Apology
for a Grave Breach of Propriety and Decorum
As some huge lion, pent
within its cage,
Lusting for freedom, breaks
out in a rage,
So did this Wanton,
thirsting to be free,
Break loose and so disgrace
itself and me.
I crave your pardon; beg
for nothing more,
Yet there’s a question you
may not ignore:
Did not your beauty open
that cage door?
And one more thing –though
this may give you pause-
Would you feel joy or
anguish in its jaws?
