Epitaph for the
Tomb of Flavius Claudius Julianus
Blessed with rare courage
and intelligence,
Yet often rash or void of
common sense,
He stumbled on, till Zeus
sent him a wife
Wiser than he, whose
counsels throughout life
Led him to Truth.
Pray, passer-by, that She,
May guide him still,
throughout eternity.
Iris, fair goddess watching
from above,
Remembering Julian,
remembers Love.
