Epitaph for the Tomb of Flavius Claudius Julianus

Epitaph for the Tomb of Flavius Claudius Julianus

Blessed with rare courage and intelligence,
Yet often rash or void of common sense,
He stumbled on, till Zeus sent him a wife
Wiser than he, whose counsels throughout life
Led him to Truth.  Pray, passer-by, that She,
May guide him still, throughout eternity.
Iris, fair goddess watching from above,
Remembering Julian, remembers Love.
